The Group

Mazao Limited, reinforced by the international expertise of Neumann Kaffee Gruppe, has an experienced team who guarantee that the fine quality is preserved at each step from the farmer through to export.

Timely shipments and consistent quality are a point of pride with the entire staff.

Tanzania started the process of liberalising the coffee marketing system in 1994 and in that same year Mazao Limited started purchasing coffee from co-operatives and farmers.

A year later Mazao Limited's state of the art processing mill was commissioned and the first coffee was ready for export.

As a formality, all coffee must still pass to the auction floor before export.

Increased competition has significantly streamlined the structure and efficiency of the coffee market. The farmer has an incentive to produce high quality coffee, and is taking good care to do so.

The slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Meru, the Southern Highland, the shores of Lake Victoria and Kigoma are where most of Tanzania's coffees are grown.

The climates are well adapted to produce high quality coffees with fine acidity and full flavour.

Robusta coffee was first introduced from Uganda. Arabica coffee was planted first on the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Today nine out of ten kilos of coffee are grown by smallholders and the balance on large estates.

Care is taken at all steps of the curing process to ensure that only the highest quality is produced.
